Meet Jessica McGuire, LMFT

I take a relational and attachment-focused approach to therapy.

My passion for mental health and wellness began over a decade ago, as a client navigating difficult decisions in therapy myself. Like many pursuing therapy, I learned new communication skills and coping strategies. But for me, the most powerful change came from learning how to feel my emotions instead of pushing them away. If you've tried to think your way out of your problems, ruminating and blaming yourself - you are not alone. I am now inspired daily by witnessing clients actively change their lives. I see them bravely address fears and set boundaries. I feel especially inspired when I see them change the way they talk to and about themselves.

Using a relational approach grounded in attachment science, we will identify your unmet needs and explore emotions surrounding those experiences. Together, we will compassionately acknowledge the unhelpful patterns you’ve turned to in an attempt to meet those needs. Finally, we will put it all together by creating a new path forward. You will practice new ways of communicating and adopt a new view of yourself and others. Your emotional safety will be prioritized throughout the process - as feeling safe enough to take new risks is a key ingredient in long-term change (source).

Maybe you’ve tried to set boundaries, but have a tough time following through when you feel pressure. If you have a history of toxic relationships (romantic or family), it can be difficult to identify your unmet needs and desires, let alone communicate them with others.

I’m here to inspire change and help you find your new path forward. Change is hard work and often uncomfortable. Support is necessary when learning how to tolerate the discomfort that often accompanies boundary-setting and communicating in an authentic, honest manner.
